Just to recap, remember the three key details which you need to know when you ring 999:

There are a number of things you can do to assist the ambulance service while the ambulance arrives:

  • Stay calm
  • If you are in the street, stay with the patient until help arrives
  • If you are calling from home or work, ask someone to open the doors and signal where the ambulance staff are needed
  • Lock away family pets

You might also have to perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) on the patient and find the nearest defibrillator. You can use our Defibrillator app (see the video below)
